School Lunch Menus

Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year!

Applications for Free or Reduced Meals and an “OK to share my information” disclosure form can be found here or in the main office of every school.

Eligibility status needs to be renewed every year.  If you applied last year, you need to re-apply, as your current free/reduced status carries over only until 9/30/17.  Be aware that morning snack milk at the elementary school level is NOT included in the free or reduced price lunch program and costs all students $.40 regardless of eligibility.  Please fill out the disclosure form and return to the school with the application if you would like to be considered for reduced fees.

Monthly menus can be found at the bottom of this page. Belchertown School Lunches are planned using Nutri-kids software. This software enables parents to view the nutritional content of the school lunches; just click "View Nutrients" on any given day of the school menu.  If you are a parent of a new student with food allergies, please contact the nurse at the school your child attends.  A doctor's note is needed to make any food substitutions. The mySchoolBucks program was a success last year, with about 50% of parents pre-paying online.  Pre-paying reduces wait time in lunch lines by about 7 seconds per transaction, allowing students more time to eat.  Please be advised that there is a $2 fee for every deposit made online, so parents are encouraged to pre-pay for as many meals and a la carte items as they can comfortably afford to avoid paying multiple deposit fees.  The district does NOT receive any financial benefit from parents paying online.  The $2 fee is charged to the program from banks for providing secure online fund collection.  The district will continue to accept cash in an envelope WITH YOUR STUDENT'S NAME WRITTEN ON IT or a check WITH YOUR STUDENT'S NAME WRITTEN ON IT made payable to "Town of Belchertown."  Regardless of your preferred method of payment, please visit and sign up for a free account to view itemized cafeteria transactions and deposit information in real time.

New this year, students will not be permitted to charge a la carte items in any school, and a la carte purchases will be limited to one item per student per day at Swift River and Chestnut Hill Community schools. If you would like to customize your student’s spending limitations, please contact me directly.  Please click here to read our District Meal Charge policy.

We are very proud to announce the start of a school breakfast program in the district..  Research has shown that nurse visits, tardy and absent numbers, and test scores all improve if kids eat breakfast.  Starting Monday, September 11, students at Swift River will have the option to purchase a grab & go breakfast compliant with the USDA standards for the national school breakfast program for the price of $1.  This will take place in the time between bus arrival and class attendance.  Students who are approved for free lunch will also receive free breakfast.  Those approved for reduced price lunch will pay $0.30 for breakfast.  Breakfast can be paid for in the same way as lunch, and all money in a student's account goes towards purchases in the cafeteria.  The other schools in the district will start offering breakfast at intervals throughout the year, so stay tuned!

As always, if you have any questions or concerns related to school food service, please contact me directly.
